I began painting and drawing when I was 4 years old. I grew up on Buffalo's north side. It was an amazing place-- perfect for a young artist or musician. Music was everywhere--all the time. Clubs were filled with jamming musicians. It seemed like artistic expression was everywhere.
I became very interested in the counter-cultural, surreal art in ZAP comix. R. Crumb, Robert Williams and S. Clay Wilson became my new heroes. Impeccable pen and ink illustrations with no creative boundaries-- no political restrictions! They sold ZAP in head shops back then-- hidden far away in the back room, where square people wouldn't be offended by them. I also fell in love with traditional surrealism (Dali, Fuchs, Ernst, etc.), and the nightmarish works of Hieronymus Bosch.
At 16, my talent got noticed and I was lucky to be placed in a fine arts apprenticeship at Buffalo City Honors. I studied under legendary
artist Victor Shanchuk Jr. This was a
life changing experience.
I also became hooked on playing guitar at this time, a passion I've enjoyed to this day (over 40 years). The 1st thing I do every morning, is grab my guitar and practice for hours. I'm constantly studying and learning new techniques. It never ends. I've played in several bands over the years-- in every setting imaginable: bars, radio stations, schools, parking lots, tattoo parlors-- you name it. I was influenced by players such as: Pat Martino, Frank Zappa, Barney Kessel and or course-- Wes Montgomery.

I've had far too many exhibits to list here. For decades, my art was in galleries throughout the US. I also shipped my work to Canada, Europe and Australia. My illustrations were on shirts, books, and magazines globally. I was a very busy artist for many years. These days- I no longer exhibit. I am far too busy as a musician: studying constantly, playing with other musicians, recording-- having a blast.
